Google is rolling out advertisements within its generative AI Search experience to international audiences, aiming to unlock fresh revenue streams as expansion in its traditional search advertising segment continues to decelerate.

The global monetization push was unveiled during Alphabet’s third-quarter earnings presentation, which reported overall revenue of $127.6 billion—a 25 percent increase year over year. Despite the top-line gain, search advertising growth slowed to 12 percent, down from 17 percent in the second quarter and 19 percent in the first quarter, triggering an 8 percent slide in Alphabet shares following the release.

To offset that cooling momentum, Google is deploying sponsored placements inside AI overviews across global markets while introducing multi-turn advertisements in AI Mode for users in the United States. Google Chief Business Officer Philipp Schindler told investors that sponsored product listings within AI Mode are already demonstrating click-through rates on par with standard organic results, with internal company research indicating high user relevance.

Google Chief Executive Officer Sundar Pichai stated that search queries reached their fastest year-over-year growth rate in five years, driven heavily by changes in how people interact with AI tools. Prompts entered in AI Mode run three times longer on average than conventional text queries, Pichai noted, adding that multimodal queries—incorporating images, documents, or voice—now represent one out of every five searches in AI Mode worldwide. Monthly visual searches across the platform have also surpassed 50 billion.

Across the broader business, Google Services generated $96.3 billion in quarterly revenue, up 11 percent, while Google Cloud revenue climbed 103 percent to reach $30.7 billion. The financial results capped a period highlighted by the launch of Google’s Gemini 4 Argon model, the Pixel 11 hardware release, and the Gemini mobile application surpassing one billion active monthly users.
