Apple is preparing to overhaul multiple tablet lines in the first half of 2027, according to a report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman detailing upcoming refreshes for the entry-level iPad, the iPad Air, and the flagship iPad Pro.

Following the recent arrival of the OLED-equipped iPad mini, the planned hardware wave is expected to cover all remaining iPad updates for the year, with Gurman stating that no additional tablet models will launch in the latter half of 2027.

The revised iPad Pro will incorporate a vapor chamber cooling mechanism designed to maintain high performance over extended workloads. The high-end tablet is expected to run on the M6 processor—a chip Apple previously introduced in the iMac and 14-inch MacBook Pro—building on earlier reporting from Gurman regarding the device’s thermal and silicon upgrades.

Mid-tier hardware will also see a display technology shift, as the next iPad Air transitions away from its existing 60Hz LCD panels to OLED screens reportedly supplied by Samsung Display. Meanwhile, internal code has already pointed to significant hardware revisions for the entry-level iPad, pairing an A19 processor with 8GB of memory to support Apple Intelligence. The budget tablet will also feature Apple’s in-house N1 Wi-Fi 7 chip and a C1X sub-6GHz 5G modem on cellular configurations.
