Audio-Technica has announced its next-generation flagship wireless earbuds, the ATH-TWX9MK3, headlined by a proprietary Fit-Adaptive noise cancellation system designed to tune itself independently to the shape and seal of each ear. The company revealed the earbuds ahead of public preview sessions in Tokyo, scheduling the official retail release in Japan for November 20.

The core of the new active noise cancellation relies on upgraded MEMS microphones that track how each earpiece sits in the ear canal. Rather than applying a uniform noise-cancelling profile, the system dynamically recalibrates its filters to compensate for physical differences between the left and right ears, as well as shifts in placement over time.

Acoustic performance is driven by a newly designed 5.8 mm Pure Motion Driver Gen2 featuring a beryllium-coated diaphragm. For wireless audio transmission, the earbuds support the LHDC-V5 codec, which allows streaming quality up to 192 kHz/24-bit when connected to compatible source hardware.

With active noise cancellation turned on, the ATH-TWX9MK3 delivers up to 11 hours of continuous playback, reaching 33 hours when combined with the charging case. Disabling ANC pushes total battery longevity to 45 hours. The earbuds are also rated IPX4 for splash resistance.

Japanese audio retailer Fujiya-Avic lists the ATH-TWX9MK3 at ¥41,800 across two finish options: black and beige. Attendees at Tokyo’s Autumn Headphone Festival and specialist audio retailer e-earphone’s Akihabara shop received hands-on listening sessions on November 7, with early buyers on Audio-Technica’s Japanese web store offered a promotional branded pouch with a carabiner through November 27.
