Automotive DIY YouTuber ChrisFix has purchased a 1990 Nissan 300ZX for $2,300 after the sports coupe spent 28 years parked untouched inside a barn. Public registration records show the vehicle had not been on the road since 1998, leaving it in storage for nearly three decades before the purchase.

The car is a yellow 2+0 T-top model equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.0-liter V6 and a five-speed manual transmission, a setup factory-rated at 222 horsepower and 198 lb-ft of torque. Period testing pegged that configuration at a 6.7-second sprint from zero to 60 mph and a top speed of 143 mph. The odometer shows 106,000 miles.

ChrisFix negotiated the purchase price down from an initial $4,900 eBay listing that featured only three pictures. The seller had inherited the coupe from her brother, who originally drove it during the 1990s while operating a towing company. The $2,300 purchase price comes amid rising interest in 1990s Japanese sports cars, with a manual 1990 twin-turbo Z32 recently drawing a $48,760 auction bid. The 1990 model year was the Z32 generation’s North American debut and its peak sales period, moving 39,290 units on the continent out of roughly 165,000 produced globally.

A recent video documented a thorough cosmetic cleanup of the vehicle, which included washing the wheels, undercarriage, interior, and engine bay, along with machine-polishing the faded paint. ChrisFix also replaced and repainted a damaged front bumper and refinished an aftermarket rear spoiler. The engine was not started during the process, leaving fluid changes, ignition work, and fuel system inspections ahead before the coupe can run under its own power.
