A full remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is arriving exclusively for Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2, bypassing the original Switch hardware entirely. Unlike the previous Nintendo 3DS edition released in 2011, this new release features a comprehensive visual overhaul alongside several quality-of-life updates that were absent from the 1998 Nintendo 64 original.
Following Nintendo’s standard digital rollout schedule, the game is set to unlock at midnight in the easternmost time zone of each region. For North American players, that translates to a launch time of 12 a.m. EST on March 5, or 9 p.m. PST on March 4 on the West Coast. Players can technically gain early access by utilizing a Nintendo Account tied to an earlier time zone, though setting up a secondary regional account is advisable over changing an existing profile due to linked save data complications.
Physical pre-orders are currently circulating with regional extras, though United States shoppers are limited to a single incentive: an exclusive physical game case finished with foil cover art. While initial allocations quickly sold out through Amazon, retail inventory has continued to surface through Walmart.
Nintendo is also offering a themed Ocarina of Time Switch 2 console, though buyers should note the specialized hardware package is sold separately and does not include a copy of the game.
